There was an incident in one of the Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) of the steel plant last evening. However, there are no casualties. Out of 11 persons who are injured, seven had minor injuries. Four injured are already discharged from the hospital after requisite treatment. Three are being discharged in a day or two. Out of the balance, two are being treated in Surat and two are airlifted to Mumbai for treatment as per the advise of the Doctors.

Mr. Dilip Oommen, Chief Hazira Works said, "We will spare no efforts to ensure that the injured get the best medical attention. A special team shall investigate the cause to avert any future recurrence of such incidents".

Out of three EAFs, two have already resumed normal production.
